The Public establishment of the Mont-Saint-Michel, recently created, has received from the State the mission to manage the site. In France, an industrial and commercial public establishment (EPIC) is a legal body governed by public law which goal is to manage a public service activity.
What is the EPIC of Mont-Saint-Michel
The public establishment of the Mont-Saint-Michel has been created by decree of 11 December 2019. The vocation of the structure is to ensure a unified management of the site of the Mount, as well as its development in partnership with the territorial collectivities and the economic actors. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Ecological and Inclusive Transition and of the Ministry of Culture, its mission is to demonstrate the national and international influence of the Mont-Saint-Michel.
The EPIC manages
À ce titre, il gère les équipements publics nécessaires à sa mission, suscite et coordonne les interventions des différents acteurs publics et privés et contribue au développement touristique, culturel, paysager et territorial du site du Mont-Saint-Michel dans le respect de son histoire, de l’inscription au patrimoine mondial de l’Unesco du bien « Mont-Saint-Michel et sa baie » et du seul Mont comme composante du bien « Chemins de Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle en France ».
Dans le cadre d’une convention avec le Centre des monuments nationaux, dont l’abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel fait partie des sites patrimoniaux attribués, l’EPIC participe à concevoir et mettre en œuvre une politique ambitieuse et coordonnée en matière de programmation culturelle.
